This tutorial is presented in an effort to address the underutilized power of video in education. Animoto provides an easy entry into video creation for both faculty and students. There is potential in the education industry for Animoto to be used as an alternate method for gaining attention, as a form of non-traditional assessment and as a creative way to express understanding of a topic.
This tutorial will be presented as self-paced un-facilitated instruction that can be completed in approximately 20 minutes. Learners may spend more or less time reviewing the instructional content and practicing the skills based on personal skill level and preference.
The tutorial is organized in three steps; each includes the step objective, and introduction to the tasks, an instructional video, and a printable task list for self-assessment. The last step includes a multiple choice exam. Upon completion of all steps participants will have designed and created a thirty second video using Animoto and be aware of the options for sharing that video.
It is expected that participants possess the required prerequisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes.
